What to Do When You Find a Bee Swarm
Bee swarms are a natural part of colony reproduction. When a hive gets too large, the queen and about half the workers leave to find a new home. During this transition, they cluster together in a temporary location.
Stay Calm
Swarming bees are generally very gentle because they have no hive to defend. Keep children and pets away, but there is no need to panic.
Do Not Spray
Never spray a swarm with water, pesticides, or other chemicals. This can agitate the bees and make the situation dangerous.
Call a Beekeeper
Contact Honey Bee Rescue for swarm removal. We will carefully collect the swarm and relocate it to a managed apiary.
